Our Story
ORO = Connie and Domenico
ORO is a labour of love for experienced restaurateurs, Connie and Domenico. As long-time owners of the well-known Old Angelo's, which at 75 years, was the oldest Italian restaurant in Toronto, Connie and Domenico embarked on ambitious renovations plans in anticipation of the restaurant's diamond anniversary in 1997.
The project called for a major overhaul of the look and feel of the place, to position the business they purchased in 1983 for the new Millenium. The renovations inside and out meant the demise of Old Angelo's and the birth of ORO.
A sleek marriage of warm, European architectural elements and clean, modern designs, ORO's transformation was matched with innovative menus over the years, and today the culinary team is led by Executive Chef Michael Crockford.
For more than 15 years, ORO's warm hospitality, wonderful service and delectable dishes have garnered high praise from Torontonians and visitors alike, shining a spotlight on Elm Street's "Restaurant Row."
After a short 'hiatus' some might call retirement, you'll find the affable, bearded Domenico at ORO during the day once again, while partner-in-love-and-life Connie takes over during the evening. Their return to ORO, with the same passion and dedication, ensures the restaurant's continued placement on Toronto's A-list of fine dining.
